Meet Ron Koons

Ron Koons, of Hamilton, is what one would call a “Super Volunteer.”  Although he only began with KAA in June of 2019, in those last 7 months of the year –  he volunteered for 26 Engage outings and helped at special events. 

Several years ago, Ron’s life forever changed when he was hit from behind while stopped at a red light. He spent three weeks in the hospital, had several surgeries, and is left with chronic migraines that affect him all day every day.  His way to cope with the pain is to volunteer.to stay busy and keep his mind off the pain. He not only volunteers for KAA, but several other local agencies receive his volunteer time such as: Cincinnati Reds, LADD, Westover Nursing Home, Cincinnati and Hamilton Events and Festivals and much much more.

  Brittany Oestreicher, Engage Outing Leader said of Ron, “I always enjoy having Ron on my outings. Ron is down to earth and would do anything for anyone; he always puts others before himself. He’s great at starting conversation and quick to put smiles on participants’ faces on every outing. Ron is a dedicated volunteer and I’m thankful to have met someone who values KAA as much as I do.”

 Ron especially enjoys outings where participants purchase food for those in need and personally contributes to the cause. In addition, he has been an awesome event volunteer – helping at Bengals Sunday tailgates and other fundraising events.  Ron circulates in the tailgate crowd selling koozies and towels to fans in exchange for donations.

Ron has been married for 38 years and has one daughter, one son-in-law and one granddaughter.  Thank you Ron for choosing KAA to benefit from your time. We are so lucky to have you and appreciate your dedication to KAA.
