A Community Cornerstone: Events for Adults With Disabilities in Cincinnati

KAA created the ENGAGE program to provide adults with disabilities the opportunity to connect through activities within their community. We offer recreational programming around Cincinnati, a vibrant and growing city with endless possibilities for fun. Our ENGAGE outings create space for members to forge meaningful bonds while making important memories. We’ve found this community engagement program is extremely popular. Participants get the opportunity to interact while learning social skills and practicing community safety protocols. ENGAGE members may choose one activity per month, but may be on as many waiting lists as they like for other events.

All Around Town

What has the KAA ENGAGE group been up to so far in 2022? In May, we greeted spring with outings to Gorman Heritage Farm and the Cincinnati Zoo. Our group explored new signs of life on the farm and welcomed this year’s bundle of Zoo Babies. Of course, we also enjoyed group favorites like Reds games and karaoke at Silverton Cafe. Thank you to DJ David Kahle, a friend of KAA, who made our last karaoke dinner especially fun.

We know every KAA ENGAGE member is different. That’s why we fill our events calendar with a diverse array of activities. Know a nature lover? We often take hikes and walks in local parks. Meanwhile, sports fans will always find more than one Reds or Cyclones game on the schedule. If you are into crafting, mini golf, movie nights, musical theater, dance parties or anything else – we probably have an event you’ll love on the docket. Our programming is drafted to offer opportunities that suit each individual’s needs and interests.

Looking Forward

KAA’s summer is packed with more exciting ENGAGE outings. Thanks to the warm weather, we’re looking forward to a loaded lineup of outdoor concerts. Likewise, KAA’s Just Brew is hosting a Summer Series the last week of each month from June to September featuring musicians from the ENGAGE program’s Melodic Connections. Also rapidly approaching is Taste of Silverton, where we will be noshing on Silverton favorites from Just Brew Coffee House and neighboring businesses like The Italianette, Sweets by LaDawn and High Grain. Plus, we have even more excursions planned like Shakespeare in the Park, the Summer Music and Crafts Festival at Vinoklet Winery and seeing Newsies the Musical. You can stay in the loop on upcoming ENGAGE outings by subscribing to our Google Calendar
