Gio Boeing

Gio Boeing, Community Engagement Manager

After graduating from the University of Cincinnati with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, Gio first worked with children with severe emotional disabilities at Beech Acres when it was a residential facility. Gio then began her career of over 30 years working with individuals with developmental disabilities at LADD, where she worked in a group home, the community program, and as their intake specialist. Gio worked at Starfire for 27 years where she was the program coordinator for the recreation and service program for teens and adults with disabilities.

In 2015, Gio joined the Ken Anderson Alliance and accepted the challenge of starting the ENGAGE Program in 2017 because she has a passion for planning and coordinating community based social and service activities for individuals with disabilities. She believes these activities lessen isolation, provide a greater comfort level in the community, and enhance both self-confidence and quality of life.

Gio’s husband, Tom, volunteers with the ENGAGE program. Gio and Tom have two children, a son Tyler and a daughter Tessa (and a great son-in-law, Zach). Gio and her husband love to travel and have visited 50 of the 61 U.S. National Parks.
