ENGAGE Participants Make Cake Pops

One of the ENGAGE program’s most dedicated volunteers, Jennifer Tilford, has been leading cake pops classes for our participants where they learn how to make and decorate cake pops around the holidays. Jennifer has a side business, J. Cakes Cincinnati, and she generously shares her cake pops expertise by leading four of these outings every year around Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Easter. They are always very popular outings!

Jennifer loads up her trunk with supplies and brings all the equipment necessary for the cake pop outings to her church kitchen where the participants get to take turns adding and mixing ingredients and helping to make the cake pops from scratch. This is a fun way to practice life skills such as cooking in easy steps, taking turns and working as a team.

Then comes the fun part where the participants get to use their creativity to dip the cake pops in melted candy and decorate with sprinkles and shapes to make them festive. The participants all get to take 12 beautiful cake pops home with them to share with family and friends. The ENGAGE program would like to thank Jennifer for sharing her time and talents at these fun cake pops outings!
