Ken Anderson Promotes Alliance on New Twitter Account
If you’re on Twitter, take a look at one of the newest accounts: @KenAndersonNFL. That’s where you’ll find KAA president emeritus Ken Anderson offering regular updates about football, his daily life and the Ken Anderson Alliance.
In his Twitter bio, Ken lists winning the 1975 NFL Man of the Year Award and the 1981 NFL MVP Award, along with other accomplishments from his 16-year career. Still, he tells The Athletic, the real reason for jumping on Twitter now is to call attention to the Alliance.
With two of our biggest fundraisers postponed, KAA is trying to reach both program participants and supporters in new ways. Ken hosted four virtual happy hours on YouTube that featured guests from the worlds of entertainment and major league sports. In fact, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor “dropped by” one of the events the night before the NFL draft. “Everybody in Cincinnati was trying to get him that night,” Ken told The Athletic, calling Taylor “very receptive” and “very, very helpful.”
To help stave off loneliness and fight social isolation among adults with developmental disabilities, the Alliance staff is streaming a range of virtual classes and activities on Facebook Live every week. Ken’s presence on Twitter is a natural extension of this push to spread the word about KAA on social media. In fact, Ken’s account gained more than 7,200 followers within the first month of being live. And while you’re on Twitter, be sure to follow KAA, too, to stay up to date on all the latest happenings.
