Greater Cincinnati Foundation Funds Online Activities
At KAA, we love to get people together to have fun, learn and volunteer. Of course, in the last few months, that simply has not been possible. Fortunately, we were able to pivot from in-person outings to virtual activities with help from a grant from the Greater Cincinnati Foundation.
With our goal of creating opportunities for adults with disabilities to develop and sustain lifelong relationships, independence and self-esteem, we knew we couldn’t let weeks go by without some KAA interaction. “Our virtual engagements are designed to help adults with developmental disabilities retain their social skills and build resilience so that they are ready to interact with the community once the restrictions are lifted,” said Ken Anderson.
While we’re sheltering in place, we are offering a full calendar of activities, games, live music and social events. Funding from Greater Cincinnati Foundation as part of the Creating Inclusive Communities/COVID-19 Response grants provided the resources to fund technology improvements for our website and social media platforms.
We’d like to thank the Greater Cincinnati Foundation for their support of our mission. As one of our participants in the online events said, “Thanks for giving us such an awesome opportunity to get our minds off of the coronavirus.”
