Autism Rocks: A Legacy of Music, Community & Support

The Story Behind Autism Rocks
Autism Rocks began out of love, necessity, and a desire to create greater opportunity for individuals with developmental disabilities. What started as a local benefit concert grew into a beloved annual tradition that brought together musicians, families, volunteers, and community supporters.
Founded by David Kahle after his son’s autism diagnosis, the event quickly gained momentum in the Cincinnati community. Early concerts raised significant funds and awareness — establishing Autism Rocks as a meaningful and mission-driven gathering.
Over time, the event became closely aligned with Ken Anderson Alliance’s commitment to empowering adults with developmental disabilities to live independently and thrive in community.
Autism Rocks Through the Years
Autism Rocks 12 (2021)
Amid pandemic challenges, Autism Rocks 12 combined a limited in-person audience with a free virtual broadcast. Five local bands performed live, reaching supporters both on-site and at home.
The event raised more than $41,000 and demonstrated the resilience of a community committed to inclusion and support.
Autism Rocks 13 (2022)
Hosted at Lori’s Roadhouse, Autism Rocks 13 expanded into a festival-style celebration featuring seven bands, silent auctions, food, and nearly 800 attendees.
With generous sponsor and community support, the event raised approximately $78,000 — marking one of its most successful years.
Autism Rocks 14 (2023)
Autism Rocks 14 continued the tradition of blending music and mission. A highlight of the evening included performances connected to KAA’s music programming, where individuals spent weeks preparing to take the stage and share their talents.
The event showcased not just entertainment, but empowerment.
The Impact of Autism Rocks
Beyond fundraising totals, Autism Rocks created:
- Community through live music
- Opportunities for connection and advocacy
- Greater awareness of services supporting adults with developmental disabilities
For more than a decade, the event reflected the power of shared purpose — bringing people together in celebration of inclusion.
